The school where I teach is located about 90 miles from Lake Placid.  In 1980, the school provided much of the music for the 1980 Winter Olympics ceremonies; this is one of the shining moments in the history of the school.  In 2000, the school was again asked by the Olympic Center to provide some music for the opening ceremonies of the 2000 Winter Goodwill Games.

This time, a big production company from Los Angeles was hired to produce the event; my school was asked to provide the orchestra and do some of the arranging for the event.  It was a great learning experience for me to work with a commercial production company, and fun to have the opportunity to arrange a big, glossy production number for large performing forces.
